Most recommended collaboration tools

I would like to learn of collaboration tools. I know of salesforce chatter but would like to hear about recommendations of other tools to support collboration to please. what are most popular?

Collaboration is essential for everyone.

I think good collaboration tool depend on the communication device or medium. There are certain manual collaboration tools which can be listed as - promoting communication, sharing diagrams papers, images or such things etc. It we go for web collaboration tools then we can get many options such as Mediawiki, TimeBridge, Google Groups, MindMeister, Campfire, Twiddla, Skype, Zoho etc. You can choose any tool among these tools I preferable use Skype from last few years.  Even if you select anyone then most important thing is you should be comfortable to use it.
