I spent last week working away from home. Stayed in three very different hotels. A small family run place in York, a (dump of) a chain hotel in Glasgow, and a recently refurbed independent hotel also in Glasgow.
I had my customer experience radar tuned in all week and I could not have predicted the unusual, and pretty iffy set of circumstances that arose. Two double bookings, one mouldy bathroom, dirty towels, info not being passed from one place to another, engaged employees probably in the wrong place, disengaged employees definitely in the wrong place. Phew! I was exhausted by the time I got home.
