Online advertising is a vast topic, and there are many avenues that you can explore. The key element is to identify the objectives that you are looking to achieve first, broken down by the constituent elements.
For example, if the business is consumer focussed, and doesn't require a sales team to sell the product, you will need to develop a strong brand within your target market, gereate traffic to your website, and ensure usability is of a good enough standard to encourage people to purchase.
What is the business offering?
Tom
Can you narrow this down?
As Tom has said, what your business offers will be the very first question you need to consider when it comes to online advertising.
At the very top of your list should be to reach as many potential buyers as you can with your business offering. However, even before you can think about this, you need to know who your buyer is.
So, given you know your buyer, find out where your potential buyers go online. Then start your campaigns (which invariably will have objectives of either awareness building, or lead generation).
Once you're recognised amongst that audience (no silver bullets here - repetition breeds reputation and all that!), your offer should start to generate response. If it's not, it's either the wrong audience, or the wrong message. (You'd be surprised how much it's the latter.)
After that (and with a fair wind!) you're counting the success of your campaign.
Good luck with it all ... but please do post back and let us know what business you're in!
Cheers,
Darren
