Setting a new standard for speed on the Internet, Ameritrade has marked one year at the top of the Keynote Consumer 40 Internet Performance Index.

Since the week of March 19, 2000, Ameritrade has been the fastest loading consumer home page, downloading at an average under 3.6 seconds, 43% faster than the next closest site.

“Ameritrade is setting the standard for all other companies on the Keynote Index,” said Jim Ditmore, chief information officer for Ameritrade.  “When we invested $100 million to improve our technology infrastructure, our goal was to offer the best customer experience through greater speed, reliability and innovation.”

In the past year, Ameritrade has introduced a number of new online tools, including real-time features, Express Account Openings, and online statements, leveraging the speed of its webpage to give customers faster access to their accounts.

According to Jim Ditmore, the company’s ongoing technology investment will continue benefit its customers.  “Our emphasis on technology enables us to offer new and enhanced tools making the investing experience more convenient.”

The Keynote Consumer 40 Internet Performance Index measures the average response time of accessing and downloading the home pages of 40 important consumer websites over standard (56Kbps dial-up) telephone lines, as measured Sunday through Saturday every hour between 5:00 am and 9 pm Pacific time by Keynote Perspective measurement computers located in eight major metropolitan areas around the United States:  Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Washington, D.C, a subset of Keynote’s global network of measurement computers.
