Healthcare outsourcing company Bertelsmann Services has dropped Siebel in favour of using software from salesforce.com for its US sales division.

Bertelsmann Services had used CRM software from Siebel for more than two years, but reported having difficulties inputting, extracting and reporting on data within the Siebel environment. A decision was taken to migrate to salesforce.com which it estimates has also cost a quarter of the equivalent Siebel implementation.

Salesforce.com currently has over 4,800 customers for its online CRM solution, including global leaders such as Le Méridien, Autodesk, and Daiwa Securities SMBC Europe.
