Keen.com, where people get answers to their questions over the phone, has announced that Jaleh Bisharat will join its Advisory Board to offer help on marketing strategy and business initiatives. Bisharat, who has won a number of awards for excellence in marketing, served most recently at Amazon.com, where, as vice president of marketing, she helped build one of the largest customer bases and most recognizable brands on the internet.
To get answers to questions at Keen.com, consumers browse a directory of people who can answer their questions, click on a person’s ‘Call Now’ icon, and connect for a live phone call. Because Keen.com makes the calls, consumers’ phone numbers and other personal information are never revealed. People sell information – ranging from personal advice to computers to taxes – at a per-minute fee through listings that describe their knowledge . The quality of answers is ensured through Keen.com’s consumer-based rating system and credential verification service.
Prior to joining Amazon.com, Bisharat served as vice president of marketing for Accept.com, an internet financial services firm that was acquired by Amazon. Previously, Bisharat was senior vice president of marketing at PointCast. She has also served as vice president of marketing for Approach Software and as general manager of Lotus Development’s Database Division. In 1999, Bisharat was named one of Advertising Age’s Power 50 Marketing Executives. In 1997 she received a Marketer of the Year Award from Marketing Computers magazine and was named one of Advertising Age’s Marketing 100.

Currently, Bisharat serves as an advisor to Tellme Networks and Homestead.com, in addition to serving as board advisor to Keen.com. She holds an AB in Government from Harvard-Radcliffe and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Keen.com received its first round funding from Benchmark Capital and its second round came just 60 days after its launch, with investments from investors such as Integral Capital, Vulcan Ventures, eBay, Inktomi and Microsoft.
