Breaking into Siebel work

I'm taking the 3wk Siebel Core Consultant course and intend obtaining certification.

As an independent IT contractor, this has been a retraining exercise for me and I will be faced with the cahllenge of breaking into the Siebel work market.

In addition to my training & certification, how can I get over the obstacle of "1 or implementations required" in most job ads?

I will be seeking work in Australia and my IT background is internationally varied over several years with NT network support, WAP, web dev, project management and documentation. In my previous life I was in sales & marketing.

i am a siebel 7.0 certified core consultant with score 0f 97%.
For certification, one has to attend training program conducted by siebel only then one can appear in certification exam.
The total cost for training and exam is around $5650 USD, but better check this figure.
During training, they give necessary docs and cds..thats sufficient for exam.
any quries are welcome...

I'm considering doing a self study on the siebel series 7 cetification exam and I plan to take the exam after I finish studying, however I cannot find any training manual or self study book on seibel. Does anyone have an idea how I can get it?. I will be very glad if anyone can provide this information for me. Thanks in advance.

Steve,

Thanks for that. It's something I should have thought of myself as that's how I broke into IT many moons ago. You've hit the mail on the head.

If you have any pointers on how to find the orgs that are implementing Siebel, please let me know.

Many thanks,
Robbie

Once you have gained your accreditation (Or even home grown skills) offer to assist a known vendor for free or for expenses (Not me!- I'm into Multiactive's Entice!, Maximizer and Berkley Domeque's CustomerFocus)

Many Siebel BP's are smallish companies which will be a little wary to try a person unproven in the actual product, but with your IT experience, I'm sure that you could find one which be a worthy mentor in exchange for saving $1000 / day. You never know - if you can prove yourself, you may find yourself on the payrole.

Sincerely
