Compaq and Siebel extend relationship

Compaq Computer Corporation and Siebel Systems have formed a new global strategic alliance that extends their previous relationship.

The scope of the alliance includes joint development and solutions engineering, worldwide marketing campaigns, and professional services. In addition, the companies will sell and deploy Siebel's eBusiness Applications on a full range of Compaq products, including Aero Palm-size PCs, Deskpro PCs, and ProLiant server and AlphaServer platforms.

“The synergy between Siebel's eBusiness Applications and Compaq's NonStop eBusiness platforms and Professional Services is tried and tested,” said Thomas Siebel, CEO, Siebel. “We look forward to working even more closely with Compaq through our Global Strategic Alliance."

Michael Capellas, Compaq CEO, said: “Through our joint development efforts with Siebel, we anticipate that our e-business products, services and solutions will be propelled to the next level of innovation and customer service.”

Siebel and Compaq are also extending their engineering partnership into emerging technologies. As part of the agreement, Compaq and Siebel will each endorse Siebel's Handheld application and Compaq's Aero Palm-size PC products as their preferred sales force automation solution.

The global program is designed to achieve the highest levels of satisfaction for customer transactions – through the internet, call center, field service, field sales or channel partner.

“The strong alliance between Compaq and Siebel ensures that we have a comprehensive hardware and software solution to run our business and a proven solution to offer our customers,” said Burt Edwards, Director of the Siebel client management division at USinternetworking, an application service provider.

Compaq’s pre-sales Solution Centers in Houston, San Mateo and Munich have performed hundreds of customer configurations for Siebel solutions, at no charge, on Compaq ProLiant and Tru64 UNIX AlphaServer platforms. Compaq has provided this service since 1997 and continues to be the only Siebel partner that offers this service to customers and resellers.

Siebel Systems has sales and service facilities in more than 28 countries.
