eBreviate has won a competitive contract to provide on-line auctions to the medical device manufacturer BD (Becton, Dickinson & Co).
The one-year contract will enable BD to utilize the online auction tool for multiple commodities at locations in both US and Europe.
“Online auctions bring many benefits to our category management program,” said David Malpiedi, vice-president of BD procurement. “To have a successful strategic sourcing initiative, we must provide cutting-edge tools to category managers. Our pilot online auctions from eBreviate were so successful, we decided to award a one-year contract so that we can offer this tool to a large number of category managers.”
The categories under the new contract are expected to include a variety of materials, for both direct and indirect materials, and production and capital commodities. The auctions will be run from locations such as Franklin Lakes, USA, Plymouth, UK and Madrid, Spain.
“eSourcing tools like auctions allow European businesses to embrace technology and the spirit of competitiveness in new and successful ways,” said Chris Shanahan, BD director of purchasing in Europe.
eBreviate, an EDS company, combines leading-edge technology with market-driven content and in-field services to deliver the best eSourcing solutions to global businesses, governments and net markets. Located in Walnut Creek, California, with US offices in Plano, Texas and London, UK, eBreviate’s integrated and automated eSourcing tools take out time, cost, and inefficiency from the procurement cycle.
