ABB, the global technology group, has signed a multi-million dollar agreement with FirePond to use its Application Suite as a web-based e-business customer relationship management system in one of its units.
The project will allow ABB’s medium-voltage equipment business (DMS) to merge its e-commerce, CRM and channel management strategies on a single internet-based platform. It is likely that the solution will be deployed in 60 countries in 18 different languages.
The ABB DMS product portfolio will now be offered to customers all over the globe. ABB DMS will establish a new system of key accounts, pricing structures and global commercial processes. The company expects the system to provide an improvement in customer relationships, a significant enhancement to competitive advantage, and the optimization of key processes in marketing and sales.
FirePond, which went public in February, develops and markets interactive sales software for e-business applications. Its customers include General Motors/Ford, Renault, Scania GB, and Hitachi.
