German beverage manufacturing firm Krones AG has chosen i2 and IBM to re-engineer its supply chain.

i2 software will be implemented at Krones plants in Neutraubling and Nittenau, Germany with i2 Factory Planner going in first, followed by implementation of i2 Enterprise Project Planner.

Krones AG expects the Enteprise Project Planner to reduce project planning time, increase utilisation of resources, provide forward visibility and as a result provide the customer a reliable due date. Factory Planner will be used to reduced lead times and improve throughput while reducing inventory.

The software is being implemented as part of a wider strategy of overhauling Krones AG’s business processes through the deployment of new technology. “Themed ‘Success through Change’, the IMPULSE initiative launched by Krones AG in 1998 stipulates that our company differentiate itself through technology,” said Werner Frischholz, Chief Operations Officer at Krones AG. “While establishing customer-centric processes, we strive to achieve cost optimisation. ”
