Compaq has announced the appointment of Shane Robison to the position of senior vice president and chief technology officer. Robison brings over 15 years of information technology and engineering experience in a range of corporate environments to Compaq.
“We move forward with a clear business strategy that will fully harness Shane’s expertise in Internet-based technologies, as well as in the development of more cool stuff from Compaq,” said chairman Michael Capellas.
“Shane’s experience gives him the strategic insight needed to have an immediate impact on the research and development of technical innovations essential to long-term profitability. He will enhance the integrated technical resources available to our employees, while providing leadership in developing business opportunities that benefit customers and partners.
Robison most recently served as president of Internet technology and development within AT&T Labs. Before that, he spent four years at Cadence Design Systems, ultimately becoming president of the design productivity group.
“This is an ideal opportunity for me to play a key role in the development of new Internet access and infrastructure technologies,” said Robison.
Robison received his Masters degree in Computer Science from the University of Utah. He has written extensively on advanced computer technology. Robison serves on several boards, including that of Alchemy Semiconductor and Lutris Technologies.
