Novell has made a deal to integrate support for its technology with Corporate Yahoo! a customized information portal. Novell’s Net services software will provide security, user identity management and integration with other resources for enterprise and government networks.
Corporate portals are an important element in business-to-business eCommerce, allowing organizations to customize their interaction with partners, suppliers and their own employees. Analysts estimate that by 2003, 85% of the Global 2000 will have enterprise portals.
“The Corporate Yahoo! enterprise information portal leverages Yahoo’s reach in the workplace,” said John Willcutts, vice president of Yahoo! “With the addition of eDirectory software support, we’ll not only tap into Novell’s large network market base, but we’ll also gain the security and identity management needed to enhance personalization.”
“This agreement helps bring together two large and growing universes - the 68 million users of Novell’s eDirectory software and the Corporate Yahoo! user base,” said David Fleck, Novell vice president of worldwide partnering. “Our net services software strategy is taking root. Corporate Yahoo! will offer its customers the content and applications they need every day through an infrastructure that is secure and scalable, a foundation for trusted business relationships, both inside and outside the firewall.”
Novell’s eDirectory is the only one to work on all leading operating systems, simplifying the managing of users, identities and resources in a mixed NetWare, Linux, NT, Solaris, Tru64 UNIX and Win2000 environment. It is the only full-service directory that can deliver the integration, scale and performance of both an enterprise and Internet directory.
Corporate Yahoo! is a customized enterprise information portal solution based on the My Yahoo! interface. It leverages Yahoo’s position as the most-visited property at work, according to Nielsen / NetRatings’ latest rankings, across 24 world properties and 13 languages.
Novel delivers services to secure and power all types of networks - the Internet, intranets, and extranets; wired to wireless; corporate and public - across leading operating systems. Novell’s Net services software provides the foundation for one net - a single global network that supports new applications and forms of business.
