Peregrine Sytems has put its its supply chain management (SCM) business up for grabs, retaining Credit Suisse First Boston to help explore its options.

Peregrine chairman and CEO Steve Gardner said the company was refocusing on its core strength of infrastructure management systems. Divesting the SCM business should help the company return to profitability. Peregrine’s SCM business had revenues of more than US$120 million in 2001.

SAP, Oracle and Lawson are suggested by analysts as possible buyers, with IBM as an outside prospect. SCM market leader i2 cannot be ruled out either.
