Nordic pharmaceutical company, Novo Nordisk is consolidating its worldwide data resources into a single financial data warehouse so it can make better-informed business decisions.
The Ascential Software DataStage solution for SAP will allow Novo Nordisk to build a data warehouse which draws on information from virtually any source within the company. The initial task is to convert and migrate over 40 gigabytes of Novo Nordisk’s information, which is scheduled to be completed by June. Ultimately, the company will close its mainframe and operate a single data warehouse.
As SAP’s preferred route forward, Ascential Software’s DataStage simplifies the loading and extracting of non-R/3 data and meta data sources in the SAP business warehouse environment, increasing efficiency and maximising the value of enterprise information.
“With 14,000 employees supporting products all over the world, we needed to be able to consolidate our data worldwide rather than have it scattered right across the company,” said Henrik Deleuran Müller, manager at Novo Nordisk data warehouse.
“DataStage allows us to transfer historical data from our old warehouse and integrate it into our current system. But the real value is that this provides us with a complete view of our information. By having access to all data in one central repository, our decision-making will be improved,” he said. “The whole process improves speed of access, productivity and efficiency across our business.”
Ascential Software has signed a worldwide reseller agreement with SAP through which SAP will resell Ascential DataStage as the data integration platform for mySAP Business Intelligence customers worldwide.
