SAP has unveiled the first in a family of off-the-shelf vertical market and line-of-business analytics applications based on its BusinessObjects’ acquisition.
The offerings, which are described as "complete and ready-to-go", can be introduced in only eight weeks, the vendor claims. The 10 new applications are aimed at the healthcare, consumer products, financial services, retail, telecoms and public sectors, although support for other verticals is scheduled to follow.
Bill McDermott, SAP’s joint chief executive, said: "From the CEO all the way to the shop floor, the power of effective decision-making, when duplicated across hundreds if not thousands of employees, adds up to significant value for companies through speed, agility and changed behaviours."
The applications, which are based on BusinessObjects’ technology, were developed with the help of customers and skills from the firm’s industry and line-of-business development group.
On the line-of-business side, they comprise an Availability Analysis and Trade Promotion Effectiveness tool. There are Planning and Consolidation applications for banking, the public sector and healthcare as well as an additional Enterprise Risk Reporting package for banks.
Healthcare gets an extra Quality Management tool, a Sales Analysis package has been developed for the retail market and an Analysis and Retention one for telcos. Finally, a Readiness and Assessment offering has also been released for the defence and security sector.
SAP’s Services unit is providing implementation and customised predictive analytics services, while members of its third party channel, which include Capgemini and LSI Consulting, will offer regional or business domain-related customisation services.
The vendor is also working with Hewlett-Packard and Teradata to optimise the tools for their hosting and data warehouse offerings.
