PayPal takes inStore app mobile payments to UK high street

PayPal has announced that its inStore app will be available to use at four major UK retail stores from tomorrow.

The app allows users to pay for items via Android or iOS mobile device by generating a unique barcode and transaction number, which when scanned in-store takes payment from your PayPal account.

The payment service will be accepted at retailers Coast, Oasis, Warehouse and Karen Millen and does not reply on a mobile or Wi-Fi signal.

“Safety and security are at the heart of everything PayPal does and this is no different when it comes to mobile payments.  You unlock the application with a unique PIN number, and no personal or financial information, or money, is stored on your phone,” the firm said in a blog post.

The announcement follows recent further expansion of PayPal’s US in-store app initiative which saw the company partner with 15 retailers including Toys R Us, Foot Locker and Nine West.
