IBM beefs up social business software with analytics

With experts forecasting that the market for social enterprise apps is set to soar, IBM has moved to expand its reputation in the field by bolstering its social business software with a set of analytics tools.

Forrester Research has estimated that the market for social enterprise apps is expected to grow at a rate of 61% through 2016, reaching $6.4 billion, and IBM has identified social business as one of its major priorities.
 
And at its Lotusphere 2012 event in Orlando today, big blue lifted the lid on the next-generation of its social networking platform, IBM Connections.
 
 
The new software incorporates sophisticated analytics capabilities, real-time data monitoring, and faster collaborative networks both inside and outside the organisation through IBM's SmartCloud services.
