I understand meta language to be a language that describes other languages. In the context of CRM, and specifically in the context of marketing databases, this most often means 'data that describes other data'.
For example, the database field "First name" might have the the metadata properties: Caption="First Name", Length="60", Visible="Yes", Required="Yes" and so on.

I have never heard of Meta language in the context of marketing, that is not to say that it does not exist! I am familiar with the use of meta tagging in the field of online content management, this allows all content items to be retrieved based on the relevance to the person searching for information. Items of content are identified by the meta tags applied to them, these being the words that best describe the item and the contents within. I am not an expert, but hope this helps, if not - perhaps someone else will have the answer

Data that describes data
Muhamed,

Anyone else?
