SAP has announced new capabilities to its business intelligence (BI) software, focusing on five “key pillars” to turn Big Data into “intelligent data”.
The new pillars include social collaboration, real-time and predictive analytics to tackle Big Data, and mobile. ‘Core’ provides a foundation for managing BI initiatives such as data exploration and visualisation whilst the final pillar, ‘creative’, provides self-service connectivity to different environments and data sources for better individual creativity.
The new BI pillars are available in feature pack 3 for the 4.0 release of SAP BusinessObjects BI solutions – including SAP BusinessObjects BI, Edge edition, for small and midsize enterprises (SMEs) – and the 1.0.1 release of SAP Visual Intelligence.
According to a statement from SAP, feature pack 3 for the 4.0 release of SAP BusinessObjects BI solutions extends customers' BI foundations in mobile, Big Data, insights, social and integration.
The 1.0.1 release of SAP Visual Intelligence lets people use personal data sources such as Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and CSV files, in addition to data from SAP HANA, and features SAP StreamWork connectivity for collaborative BI, said the firm.
Adam Binnie, GVP and GM of Business Intelligence Solutions at SAP said: “As the market share leader in BI, SAP is committed to helping customers run like never before by maximising their analytics investments. With the most complete BI portfolio available today, SAP is also working hard on the service and support front to make our five-pillar BI vision a reality for any sized business, industry or line of business.”
