Mobile marketing budgets rocketing amid rising smartphone sales

Mobile phone marketing is going to replace online marketing as the main way that advertisers reach the public, amid signs that mobile marketing budgets will see huge increases over the next 12 months, a digital marketing newsletter predicts.

Although a pragmatic approach to mobile marketing has been wise up until now, online marketing newsletter Digital Marketer says all signs point to increases in mobile marketing advertising budgets this year, driven by the exponential increase in smartphone sales.
 
 
About 43% of Americans with mobile phone service own smartphones, according to figures from analyst Nielsen. However, actual purchases made on smartphones have been low with ecommerce on smartphones in 2010 and 2011 amounting to $5 billion, less than 2% of all online sales.
