Facebook and AOL to forge online ad alliance?

The chief executives of Facebook and AOL are reportedly discussing a strategic alliance in order to boost their respective online advertising businesses.

But a study by researchers eMarketer revealed that Facebook was doing quite nicely with or without such a deal. It predicted that advertisers would spend $1.23 billion worldwide this year in a bid to reach the social networking site’s 500 million users.

eMarketer senior analyst Debra Aho Williamson, said: "Brand advertisers are making Facebook a core buy. Ad spending is building quickly and the mass audience is one that marketers cannot ignore any longer."
