Twitter has acquired the team of social media analytics company Hotspots.io, continuing the trend of social platforms buying out start-ups.
According to a statement on the Hotspots.io website, employees of the start-up will be joining with Twitter’s revenue engineering team to focus on developing analytics tools for the network's advertising and publishing partners.
The statement said: “We founded Hotspots.io with the vision of helping companies and individuals maximize their social media ROI through actionable and accessible analytics, and we're thrilled to be able to continue that work on a much larger scale at Twitter.”
No financial details of the deal have been disclosed.
The acquisition is the latest in a series of start-up buy outs from the major social networks. Earlier this week, Facebook acquired the team and substantially all of the assets of customer loyalty service Tagtile.
