Twitter teams with AmEx to launch self-service advertising platform

Twiter has partnered with American Express to launch a new advertising self-service for SMEs, initially only available for US AmEx customers, in a bid to drive revenue to the site.

The service will allow businesses that use or accept the cards to begin placing ads on the site without the assistance of sales staff. The first 10,000 US American Express cardholders and merchants that register for the new platform will be given $100 in free advertising, with more buyers reported to join the service in the coming months, in groups of 10,000.

Advertisers can use the credit to advertise in the specific regions and cities they choose, and are responsible for writing their own promotional copy.
