Judge rejects Oracle's $1.3bn suit win against SAP

A federal judge has rejected a jury award of $1.3 billion to software giant Oracle in a copyright infringement lawsuit against SAP, paving the way for a possible new trial.
 
 
 
In a ruling released on Thursday, US District Judge Phyllis Hamilton ruled that SAP should get a new trial for damages if Oracle rejects her decision to reduce the amount to $272 million, which she said should be the maximum in damages based on the evidence at trial.
