Even with the healthiest lifestyle, you can be plagued by a variety of health concerns. If you experience fatigue, joint pain, eye strain, weight gain or muscle cramping, keep reading to learn how to fix them.
If you feel like you are running on a battery that is never completely charged, try these tips to feel more energetic throughout your day.
Drink More Water
Fatigue is one of the first signs of dehydration. When you feel an energy drain. Try reaching for a glass of water in place of an energy drink. Proper hydration is necessary for every function in your body from proper digestion to blood pressure regulation.
Reduce Your Sugar Intake
Skip that sugary or high carbohydrate snack when your energy level runs low. A high protein, lower carbohydrate snack is a better alternative. Sugar will cause your insulin levels to spike, and you will feel more drained when your blood sugar levels crash.
When your energy runs low, get up and move. Even a brisk walk down the hall can improve your energy levels.
Alleviate Muscle Cramping
The build-up of lactic acid in your muscles can cause you to feel pain and tightness. You can alleviate the pain by increasing the amount of magnesium in your diet. Try including more of these magnesium-rich foods.
- Nuts and Seeds
- Whole grains
- Fish and beans
- Dried fruit
- Dark leafy greens
When muscle pain strikes, you can also soak in a bath with a cup of Epsom salts. If a tub is not an option, you can add Epsom salt to your favorite body cream. The magnesium in the salt will ease the pain.
Ease Joint Pain
Joint pain does not have to sideline you from your favorite activities. You may believe that inactivity will decrease your pain, but inactivity can complicate the problem.
Increase Your Range of Motion
When you have a painful joint, it is essential to keep that joint flexible. Start by bending the joint and straightening it gently. You should not force this motion. The flexibility will increase with time.
Supplements for Healthy Joints
The over-the-counter supplement glucosamine is shown to assist with joint health and repair. Studies show that glucosamine supplements are most effective for knee pain, but may not be as effective for alleviating pain in the hips.
Low Impact Exercise
Increasing the strength of the muscles supporting your joints is essential. Try a low impact exercise such as water aerobics or swimming. You should consult with your physician before beginning any new exercise routine. If your pain is not improving, you may want to visit your doctor. If you have an injury, your doctor will make the necessary recommendations.
