This week: Head of Customer Transformation – (Reading, Berkshire)

Pertemps – the UK's largest water provider – are looking for a Head of Customer Transformation with strong experience in digital transformation to join their newly formed Customer Transformation team. As Head of Portfolio, the chosen candidate will be accountable to assess all transformation requirements and be the central decision-maker on prioritising and progressing those projects and activities that fulfill the overall transformation strategy.


  • Setting up of individual project processes and procedures, so that in-depth project and programme management advice and assistance is available to strategic transformation programmes & activities.
  • You will lead in defining standards for key project and programme controls, including planning, risk and issue management, quality control,and progress reporting.
  • Conduct and provide specific support for the development and content of business cases, project plans, and review and audit reports.
  • Initiate project performance investigations and recommend changes where performance is found to be unsatisfactory.
  • Ensure compliance with best practice and specified controls, including project status, scope, plans, financial controls, risks, issues, and quality.
  • Takes ownership for all aspects of digital projects and large workstreams from initiation to delivery, so that projects are completed on time, to the required scope & objectives, and within budget.
  • Design, communicate, manage and implement the digital strategy & governance plan for completing all digital projects, as well as tracking progress and performance against identified, resolved, or escalated issues and risks in order to ensure full awareness and to minimise delays.
  • Set up portfolio governance for the digital programmes & projects – engaging cross-functional teams where appropriate.
  • Define and own the portfolio budget – making sure you manage the costings effectively to come inside of agreed parameters.
  • Work with stakeholders, and identify and establish priorities, allocate tasks, and coordinate project staff to meet project targets and milestones, as well as ensuring the project is delivered to the internal and/or external stakeholders.


  • Extensive experience in portfolio management, methodology, and governance.
  • Digital transformation experience is essential.
  • Digital design & product development life cycle experience.
  • Having wide-ranging experience in using professional concepts and company objectives to resolve moderately complex issues in creative and effective ways.
  • Experience of having ownership of a sub-function, account, or matrix management responsibilities. 
  • Experience managing product portfolio, and defining & managing plans & road maps.
  • Solid level of experience within the Programme & PM field
  • Solid understanding of project management tools, terminologies and techniques.
  • Has successfully delivered large projects within the Retail & wholesale sector environment (not essential).
