Two thirds of firms have either already deployed Big Data solutions or are planning to do so in the next 12 months.
That’s according to new research from business intelligence firm Jaspersoft, which surveyed more than 600 of its community members on enterprise management of Big Data.
Of those with no deployment plans, 35% of those surveyed cited a lack of understanding about Big Data as the main barrier.
Additionally, the research revealed the top five Big Data use categories as being customer experience analytics (48%); customer analytics – churn, segmentation (37%); marketing campaign optimisation (28%); financial risk analysis (27%); and marketing competitive analysis (27%).
Meanwhile, the figures showed that while more 60% of respondents are still deploying Big Data on-premise, 40% are deploying Big Data in the Cloud.
Brian Gentile, CEO of Jaspersoft, said: “We were even surprised to see how quickly the Big Data market is maturing based on implementation plans of our community members. From the variety of industries using Big Data to the different use cases identified, it's clear that Big Data adoption is gaining momentum alongside Cloud deployment, two complementary technologies which can fundamentally shift the cost/value curve in an organisation.”
