SAP pursues BPO market

In recognition of the growing demand for business process outsourcing, SAP has teamed with a range of BPO service providers in a bid to cash in on the trend.

Under the auspices of its ‘BPO Services Powered by SAP’ scheme, the applications supplier has hooked up with EDS, LogicaCMG, ACS and ADP to support customers wanting to BPO their human resources function, although support for other functional areas of the business is expected to follow.

But it is not just going after the enterprise dollar. In yet another attempt to make itself more appealing to the mid-market, the vendor has launched a global advertising campaign.

Its three-page ‘Mid-market Manifesto’ will appear in more than 20 business and online publications around the world in an attempt to demonstrate the relevance of its offerings to organisations in this space.

Elsewhere, however, Axon Group, a UK-based SAP consulting and services company, has decided to broaden out into the US aerospace and defence market by acquiring Feanix for $23.5 million.

Feanix was formed in February 2004 out of a management buy-out from the US-based SAP consultancy practice of IT services company, Xansa. It employs about 85 staff and generated $12.2 million in its first year of trading. Feanix will be purchased for $12 million in cash and by the issuance of 2.8 million new shares worth a total of $11.5 million.
