3Com Corporation has announced the appointment of Michael E. Rescoe as senior vice president, finance and planning. He is responsible for all financial matters and reports to Eric Benhamou, 3Com CEO.
Prior to joining 3Com, Rescoe served as chief financial officer for PG& E Corporation in San Francisco. Before that, he was chief financial officer of Enserch Corporation in Dallas and held management positions at Bear Stearns, Kidder Peabody and Entergy. Rescoe has a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Texas, Austin and a bachelor’s degree from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA. He lives with his family in Alamo, California.
“3Com recently announced steps to focus on increasing leadership in high growth market segments,” said Benhamou. “Just as Chris Paisley, 3Com’s previous CFO, joined the company at a key moment and helped guide it through an explosive era of growth, Mike Rescoe is joining 3Com just as it transforms into a new company focused on new opportunities. He will help guide 3Com through what we believe will be a new phase of growth.”
“I am delighted to be joining the 3Com team,” said Rescoe. “With a strong balance sheet, powerful brand, rich technology portfolio and broad distribution, 3Com has all the ingredients to win in the market place and deliver exceptional returns to shareholders.”
Rescoe succeeds Christopher Paisley, who announced his intention to retire from 3Com to become a teacher late last year. Paisley will stay on for the transition, and will continue to help on projects. He is joining the faculty at Santa Clara University beginning in the fall.
