A compelling multi-media experience is due to delight Malaysian consumers. Motorola has won a multimillion dollar order from Malaysia's Network Guidance, an operator of multimedia-on-demand services over television.
This is the first customer in Malaysia for Motorola's Streamaster, which aims to revolutionise video entertainment and communications, integrating communications and interactive entertainment, including video-on-demand, 3D games, video information and conferencing, Internet access, electronic commerce and karaoke.
Network Guidance’s full launch of Streamaster systems is due in Q4 2000, and over the next five years, the company expects to serve more than 150,000 customers.
"We are thrilled to be working with Network Guidance to deliver high quality home entertainment services," said Jacqueline Beauchamp, director and general manager of the Multimedia Systems Division. "Our Streamaster solution provides a variety of smart features which Network Guidance sought to provide consumers with a compelling multimedia experience."
Initially, customers will enjoy a host of interactive home entertainment, such as: *hundreds of movies which can be chosen via title selection or a performers index
*programmes including sports, religion and drama, in languages such as Bahasa Malaysia, English, Chinese and Hindi
*karaoke-on-demand and music videos on the Music-U-Want channel
*ToonStuffs, a channel for children.
"Motorola's Streamaster solution offers us the services that our customers have been demanding, and we are very happy to be working with them to bring these features to market," noted Ida Rahayu, managing director of Network Guidance.
"We were looking for a solution that could maximise the services we want to offer now and in the future. Streamaster's multimedia architecture enables us to upgrade or change functionality through our network, eliminating the need to change hardware. Streamaster and Network Guidance are an excellent match."
