Alongside the growth of smartphone ownership, new research has revealed 25% of US consumers now own a tablet device.
According to Pew Research Center, that’s a staggering 21% increase since it last measured ownership in 2010. The biggest number of owners were found to be in households earning $75,000 or more with 47% owning a device.
Adobe recently predicted that tablet devices will generate more web traffic than smartphones or personal computer by 2013. According to the firm’s latest Digital Index report, website traffic from the device is growing at over 300% and will account for one in every 10 website visits by 2014.
Brad Rencher from Adobe Digital Marketing Business said at the time of the report: “Digital CMOs are wise to take a mobile first approach to optimise their digital content and marketing initiatives with a focus on the tablet experience because the consumer demands it.”
