Andersen Consulting and Baltimore Technologies have formed a strategic alliance to provide secure electronic services for governments.
Andersen will incorporate Baltimore’s eSecurity products into scaleable solutions dedicated to offering secure electronic environments to governments worldwide, so that they can deliver virtual services to their citizens.
“As government officials worldwide plan their eFutures, much discussion has focused on how to ensure the security of electronic systems that protect data provided by businesses and citizens in conjunction with applications, registrations, taxes and other private sector-government transactions,” said Sean Shine, Andersen Consulting, managing partner responsible for the firm’s Global Revenue agency practice.
“Information that must pass between citizens and the government, and among government agencies, requires confidence that privacy will not be breached. By coupling Baltimore’s products with Andersen’s knowledge of government and technological expertise, we can help our clients respond to these public sector needs.”
The opportunities range from postal operations and defense to citizen services and the courts, and will aid governments as they meet the increasing demand for digital services.
Andersen Consulting and Baltimore Technologies forged a steady partnership during their collaboration on the development of EasyTax, an online revenue solution introduced to the market last November.
“Governments throughout the world are realizing the benefits of offering electronic services to both businesses and the public,” said Aidan Gallagher, executive vice president at Baltimore Technologies. “In all situations, security and confidentiality of data are of paramount importance. Baltimore is pleased to work with Andersen Consulting globally to provide the security framework for a wide variety of solutions. The Revenue Online-Service system in Ireland is a perfect example of how governments are adopting e-security to offer customers a faster more efficient, secure electronic channel for filing tax returns.”
Approximately 5,000 Andersen experts work with national, state and local agencies advising, implementing and even operating government services.
The company has approximately 65,000 people in 48 countries.
