Ascential expands to 1,500 customers worlwide

As a demonstration of the growing acceptance of information asset management (IAM) for large enterprises, Ascential Software has announced that it signed more than 150 new customers in 4Q of 2000.

Its installed base now exceeds 1,500 customers, including recent additions of Northwest Airlines, Shell Retail, Novo Nordisk, Agip Petroli and Fleet Financial.

“We chose Ascential based on its overall solution for our data integration needs, offering mainframe data access, meta data capabilities and data quality capabilities,” said Mary Sweeney, data warehouse architect of Northwest Airlines. “Overall, its solution provided flexibility and scalability that will enable us to expand to the enterprise level.”

Ascential aspires to become a leader in the emerging market with IAM solutions – products that transform disparate data and content into reusable strategic information assets. The company plans to leverage its global field organisation of more than 600 sales and service staff and strategic alliances to deliver on its IAM strategy.
