BellSouth Corporation has named iXL a strategic interactive partner in a two-year relationship centering on the creation of a user-friendly web experience.

“We are deploying a dedicated team of strategists, creative designers and engineers to help bring BellSouth’s commitment to customers on-line,” said Bert Ellis, chief executive officer of iXL. “We welcome BellSouth as the newest addition to our global client roster and are proud that they have chosen iXL.

“This relationship represents the kind of complex, challenging engagement in which we specialize,” Ellis added. “We will create a cohesive and more lucid web identity for BellSouth’s customers.”

The first phase of the multi-million dollar initiative will utilize a full range of disciplines, including information architecture and Enterprise Relationship Management to create a personalized experience for every visitor.

iXL has been working with BellSouth since May 2000 on a number of projects, and this announcement marks a more formalized, long-term expansion of the relationship. iXL’s BellSouth team will be led by client partner Scott Preacher in Atlanta.

“When we searched for an e-services partner, we looked for both a track record in working with large Fortune 1000 clients and the capacity to execute on multi-year, multi-project engagements,” said Bob Airasian, president of “This is an important strategic project which requires strategic foresight and end-to-end capabilities.”

iXL has worked successfully for some of the world’s leading companies, including GE, Virgin, AIG, Delta Air Lines, Chase, FedEx and AT&T. The company has 23 offices in the North America, Europe, Latin America and Asia.

BellSouth is a $26 billion communications services company.
