Capstone Express is the natural next step for HNC

HNC Financial Solutions has introduced Capstone Express, an automated application decisioning service with a hosted application service provider (ASP) environment. 

Ideally suited to automate credit card, consumer loan, auto loan, line of credit, business lending, or mortgage decisioning, the service is available with three packages to suit a user’s own policies.

“Capstone Express is the natural next step in the evolution of our customer relationship management solutions. It positions us to meet the needs of small- to mid-tier lenders and financial institutions, as well as emerging internet companies and credit aggregators,” said Michelle Macartney of HNC. “What differentiates Capstone Express is its scalability and its capacity to be tailored to meet the needs of each client.”

Capstone Express supports on-demand access to a user’s own data and to US and Canadian consumer credit bureaus and US business credit agencies to assess credit risk and application and identity fraud risk. The service can reach a decision about most applications in under 10 seconds. ASP delivery allows lenders of all sizes to access sophisticated decisioning usually available only to the largest organizations.

Capstone Express can interact with its customers via the web, interactive voice response, direct line, or palm devices. For applications that cannot be automatically decisioned, it provides an analyst interface for manual review. 

ASPs have emerged in various business-to-consumer and business-to-business service industries for “on the spot” decisions. According to information technology analyst firm IDC, worldwide spending on ASP services was $296 million in 1999, but is expected to grow to $7.8 billion by 2004. ASPs typically provide the use of packaged software applications, implementation services, required computing hardware, secure network connectivity, on-going system operation, and scaling and upgrading on a fee-for-usage basis. This allows businesses to process higher volumes of increasingly complex applications, achieve economies of scale, and avoid having to purchase an expensive in-house system.
