An independent IT consultancy has announced a 25 per cent staff increase in public sector and commercial business teams over the next year. Crew is to take on experienced IT consultants in response to the increasing demand for a more personal and tailored approach than the ‘Big Five’ consultancies offer.
Traditionally, Crew’s consultants have worked on a wide range of complex IT projects, and remain hands-on across the life cycle, from feasibility and strategy development to implementation, test and acceptance.
The expansion comes at the start of the new financial year, which has offered opportunities as companies agree budgets for the forthcoming year. Consequently, companies are demanding expert advice from consultants to oversee the development and implementation of IS/IT strategies.
“Crew’s success has been achieved by the care it takes in matching clients’ needs to the technical, business and personal skills of the consultants,” said Ted Sykes, resource manager at Crew. “Our rigorous recruitment processes ensure that our staff have not only the necessary technical and management skills, but the character and personality to integrate with our clients’ project teams. Our experience suggests that this is vital to our success, and we have no intention of lowering our standards during this substantial recruitment campaign.”
Crew is an independent ‘client-side’ company offering support on the investment and technical implementation of business systems. Current projects include some £2 billion of IT expenditure.
Founded in 1985, the company employs over 100 staff and has a turnover in excess of £7 million, and has offices in Portsmouth, Birmingham and Bristol. Crew is a member of the Vega Group, with a group turnover of £36 million.
Clients include British Gas, NPI, The Meteorological Office, The Ministry of Defence, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark Health Authority, The Metropolitan Police and Westminster Abbey.
