CRM solution for my company

I am a representative of a company that is looking for a CRM solution. We are a small software company that also offers consulting practices in the hospitality and commercial real estate industries. I am looking for a CRM solution that is designed for smaller companies that would fit the following requirements:
-Contact Management that matches our unique client base (i.e. large corporate clients with portfolios of smaller clients, all of whom are linked together in the database). The sales cycle averages 1 year, so we will also need a follow-up and scheduling functionality in relation to tasks for the contact.
-Helpdesk capability
-Modular security for users
-Integration capability with Goldmine version 3.20.71012 (we currently use this software for contact management in conjunction with MS Outlook). I am not sure of the database format used for this application, but it is a must that we migrate the data from Goldmine.
-Integration with current mail merge documents constructed in Microsoft Word
-Reporting that tracks sales, forecasting revenues, and provides the development team with consolidated information about the most popular customer issues compiled from the helpdesk
-Direct mail functionalities via e-mail, fax, and form letters
-Remote access capability via the Web
-Flexibility in the user interface to accomodate user-defined fields
-Capability to track profitability and solvency (i.e. bill aging) for each of our clients
-Capability to track consulting fees for each individual client (i.e. amount of hours spent for each client) and perhaps generate invoices as well

After a peripheral examination, I have started to compile a list of alternatives:

-The new Microsoft CRM, set to be released in December
-Goldmine Front Office
-Everest by Lynk Software
-Onyx
-Siebel

I am looking to feedback on the feasibility of my requirements as well as a recommendations of vendors.

Thank you

Fernando Torres

Have you researched SalesLogix? It seems to be a great fit for what you are trying to accomplish.

Hi Fernando

From reviewing your comments I would recommend you look at eWare, www.eware.com. The product is extremely flexible and adapts well to different product and service orientated businesses.

There are some great customer stories on the site - have a look!

the best solution I have found for robust functionality, reasonable price and flexibility to grow is clearc2.com.

siebel and onyx too complex and expensive, others are just contact mgt w.o the room for growth. many crm compaies have $3 of services for every $1 in software costs.. clearc2 was the exact opposite... sotake a look I thin you will be very happy

GoldMine 3.2 is a very old version, for the elements you've requested you should look at GoldMine Sales & Marketing 2002 and possibly HEAT. HEAT is the help desk product that integrates with GoldMine - it manages SLA, knowledge base, etc. (lots of information at www.prior-analytics.com - yes I work there)

You may also want to look at www.activip.com for an Exchange link for GoldMine should you go that route.

I'd avoid MS CRM for the moment as its very new and has a high infrastructure requirement + a couple of business issues with regards to synchronisation if you need remote use.

Onyx and Siebel are at the higher end compared to GoldMine, if your looking for something similar you should consider GoldMine CustomerIQ a true .Net solution that will complete with these.

When dealing with GoldMine (or any other product) is to get the right partner - ensure that they have a project orientated view, they can provide references in your industry and get a fixed price. You'll also need to get the on-going recurring costs and details of any additional hardware or additional staff (common practise for Siebel).

Hope this helps.

Richard Young.
