Ford expands relationship with PeopleSoft

Ford Motor Co has expanded its ongoing licensing deal with PeopleSoft by deploying its Enterprise Service Automation (ESA) tool to manage the activities of its 6,000 IT staff and contractors.

The auto manufacturer has been using PeopleSoft’s flagship human resource applications since the mid-1990s to handle its global workforce and implemented PeopleSoft Financials in 1997 to deal with its global accounting activities.

It will now deploy PeopleSoft’s ESA professional services automation tool at its information technology division in Dearborn, Michigan, to control how much the firm spends on outside contractors and optimise its use of internal and external IT staff by getting the mix right on any given IT project.

The tool enables Ford to collaborate online with its service providers to aggregate, analyse and evaluate its expenditure on contracted services and to provide it with a comprehensive view of its resource and project data.

The aim is to help improve return on investment on IT projects by streamlining the processes involved in staff acquisition, placement and, as a result of being able to manage and analyse spending, to standardise processes and expense controls.

PeopleSoft Consulting will help Ford to implement its ESA offering, which comprises two elements. Resource Automation controls the processes and costs related to managing resources and securing contractors, while Project Automation enables organisations to collaborate with others with the aim of prioritising, managing and executing projects more efficiently.
