Ford Motor Company and Trilogy Software have announced an Internet joint venture to operate all of Ford.com and its dealer sites around the world.
The as yet unnamed new company will be based in Austin, Texas, with offices in Mississippi, California and Europe.
"Our priority is to have the world's finest Web sites for our Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Volvo, Jaguar and Mazda brands, said Brian Kelley, president of Ford Consumer Connect and vice president of Ford Motor Company. “This venture will make our dealer sites the most powerful in the industry."
While Ford will retain a majority stake, both companies are making a significant financial investment in the new company, as well as investments in the form of employees and technology. An initial group of Ford and Trilogy employees will form the new company's core team.
