FreeDrive has awarded EDS a three-year contract to provide pay-as-you-go web hosting and data storage services.

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The managed storage industry is forecasted to grow to $40 billion by 2002.

“Storage is the platform for FreeDrive’s ASP offerings,” said Jack Sandner, CEO, FreeDrive, “and we needed a partner with the ability to move at Internet speed.”

FreeDrive provides secure data storage applications via the Internet. Files stored on its Internet site may be shared with customers, suppliers, business associates, employees and stockholders.

EDS provides e-business and IT services to 9,000 business and government clients in about 55 countries around the world.
