Fujitsu Siemens and Linuxcare strike global alliance

Fujitsu Siemens Computers has formed an alliance with and Linuxcare to deliver consulting and technical support services to customers and partners worldwide.

The agreement calls for Fujitsu Siemens and Linuxcare to collaborate on open-source projects and providing multilingual technical support. The two companies will develop Linux porting capabilities, such as driver development and application porting services, for Fujitsu Siemens servers and workstations. Linuxcare will also provide project support for optimization of Linux on IA-64 microprocessors.

Fujitsu Siemens was formed through a joint venture between Fujitsu Computers (Europe) and Siemens Computer Systems, and commenced operations on 1st October 1999. The company is jointly owned by Fujitsu Limited and Siemens AG, and has its headquarters in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

With extensive European manufacturing facilities, companies in 25 European countries, and more than 7,200 employees, Fujitsu Siemens Computers is aiming to be the number one computer company in Europe.
