Storage giant Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) is the first company to buy into Baan’s iBaan for CRM software, which was formally launched last week. HDS chose the Baan solution in preference to rival offerings from Siebel and Oracle. HDS will migrate its ACE and Configuration applications over to a 900-seat implementation of Baan's iBaan SalesPlus 4.2 solution. The implementation of iBaan for CRM is intended to provide HDS with advanced functionality including more tightly integrated configuration quote-building; accurate, fast and repeatable proposal generations; integrated pricing that supports specific pricing rules for territory, customer, special promotions, volume and hierarchical discount approvals; and forecasting upsides to help shorten preparation time for executive level meetings. The solution will provide HDS with a solid foundation for future growth and support.
