ICL is to build and operate a new e-commerce platform for the Internet shopping portal from BBC Worldwide, to personalise content and advertising
ICL will work with ATG and Documentum gathering information on the shopping habits of Beeb.com online customers to implement and integrate the technology. According to MMXI research, Beeb.com is the fourth most visited retail website in the UK.
Derek Sayers, managing director e-Innovation at ICL, said: "ICL has been a trusted partner of Beeb.com since 1996. Now, working with ATG and Documentum we are able to deliver a more flexible site."
ICL already provides a team which helps to develop and support Beeb.com's Internet operations. In addition, it runs the managed service to support these Internet operations.
Julian Turner, chief executive officer of Beeb Ventures, added: "The site will enable customers, to make informed shopping decisions. We will create new personalised content by looking at our customer's buying trends."
