EDS has signed a $33 million one-year contract to administer health benefits for the State of IndianaÕs Medicaid program.

EDS has managed administrative and operational processes for the Indiana Office of Medicaid Planning and Policy since 1991. The company now administers $3.5 billion in Medicaid health benefits to more than 500,000 beneficiaries and 25,000 health care providers each year in Indiana.

EDS will use its Medicaid management information system, interChange, for services such as claims processing, eligibility verification, pharmacy benefit, long-term care facility auditing, third-party recoveries, decision support and provider relations.

Indiana was one of the first EDS clients to use interChange. Claims processing times dropped from an average of 38 days to less than five days, with virtually continuous user access to the system. EDS currently supports 20 states in Medicaid program administration.
