The 11th edition of the Email Marketing Industry Census takes the pulse of the complex digital marketing landscape and examines what role email plays in this context. 

The results of the 2017 report show that marketers have a lot of work to do, but the mosts successful are on the path to first-person marketing. 

So what is first-person marketing and what are the signs that 2017 will be the year that marketers make a major shift towards it?

Email marketers have long been trying to shift their focus on personalization however 40% of the emails are not personalized beyond ‘Hello, first name’. At the heart of personalization, lies the notion of understanding the individual and doing this in real time. We may say that demographics based macro segmentation is dead, long live real time micro-segmentation!
