Knapp takes up the reins as Gartner’s chief marketing officer

Robert Knapp, 41, has joined Gartner Group, the technology advisory firm, as chief marketing officer.

Knapp joins Gartner from SiegelGale, a branding and e-services firm based in New York where he was chief client officer. Before that, Knapp was group director at Lotas Minard Patton McIver directing the Max Factor cosmetics line. Earlier, Knapp was account director at BBDO where he managed the Apple account. He also worked at Lintas as vice president on the IBM, Lever, and Lego accounts.

A graduate of the University of Miami, Knapp lives in Manhattan with his wife and son.

Gartner helps technology companies identify and maximize technology market opportunities. Founded in 1979 and headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut, the company had fiscal 1999 revenues of $734 million. Gartner’s 3,600 associates, including 1,200 research analysts and consultants, are in more than 80 locations worldwide.
