Dutch airline Martinair has chosen Lawson Software Human Resources to consolidate and automate its HR processes and optimise its data from more than 2,500 employees across all divisions of the airline.
Initially, 50 members of Martinair's human resource and management team will utilise the core Lawson system with the entire organisation coming on-line by the summer of 2003.
The Lawson implementation at Martinar includes multiple data-entry points that integrate into a single, centralised database with employee self-service access through a web-based portal. The web-based model meets Martinair’s requirement that the technology be rolled-out gradually in accordance with company-wide restructuring plans.
"Our wish to reform our classic designed HR processes into an external focused unit left us with two important questions,” said Frans Wirtz, senior vice president of HR at Martinair. “One, how to optimise the use of our human resources and do it in such a way that current multiple data entry points were integrated in one application. And two, how to deliver a self-service component to comply with the external focus we'd like our HR department to have.
The Martinair Holland Group is an organization that operates all over the world from 75 locations and owns a number of aviation-related subsidiaries. With more than 2,500 employees and a network of international establishments, from Hong Kong to Florida, Martinair has grown from a charter to a multinational scheduled airline and cargo carrier.
