The UK business portal Work24 has appointed Simon Ward as marketing director.
Work24 is targeted at the UK’s 3.6 million small- and medium-sized firms. The site provides a free website-building facility, business news and advice, networking facilities and special offers on stationery, office equipment and travel.
Ward, who brings 15 years of marketing, consulting, corporate development and e-commerce experience, has kicked off a major campaign which includes a new brand, tactical advertisements and online marketing. He is currently recruiting six additional marketing staff including brand managers and marketers.
Mick Empson, COO of Work24, said: “Simon’s experience of e-commerce and branding is a rare combination that will bring huge experience and benefit to this joint venture.”
Work24 is the first offering from a $101 million joint venture from Scottish Power and The Royal Bank of Scotland. The portal aims to create new channels of distribution for utility and banking services, which will be offered to its combined customer base.
