New suite at health site attracts 650 quotes in 3 weeks

Brokers have been so keen to use the site at Empire BlueCross BlueShield since FirePond’s application suite was installed that 650 quotes were processed in the first three weeks.

The suite offers interactive selling to Empire’s network of brokers, who serve the health care of many of its employer groups.

Empire is the second major Blue Cross plan to deploy the suite this year, the first being in Minnesota. In the past six months both CareFirst Blue Cross Blue Shield and Trigon Blue Cross Blue Shield selected the FirePond suite as the e-business platform to support their multiple selling channels.

The web-based solution allows brokers to guide a prospective employer group interactively through the purchasing process, and personalize products and services. The suite will extend the reach of the system to Empire’s direct sales force, as well as a self-service e-commerce channel where employer groups can administer their plans online.

The FirePond application suite allows Empire’s independent broker channel to match an employer group’s health insurance needs with health insurance products and services. Brokers can develop quotes, create proposals and enroll groups in real-time and, at the click-of-a-mouse, compare premiums with benefit options. Quotes and proposals can be produced quickly and presented for review.
